21-Point Halftime Lead Sets Tone for Celtics Victory

Boston Cruises to 107-89 Win

The Boston Celtics opened the 2024 NBA Finals with a resounding 107-89 victory over the Dallas Mavericks on Thursday night. After a dominant first half, the Celtics extended their lead throughout the second and sealed the game with a 21-point deficit at halftime.

Kristaps Porzingis led the Mavericks with 20 points, but it wasn't enough to overcome Boston's relentless defense and offensive firepower. The Celtics were led by Jayson Tatum, who finished with 29 points and 12 rebounds, and Jaylen Brown, who added 23 points.

The Celtics took control of the game early, outscoring the Mavericks 36-15 in the first quarter. They never looked back, extending their lead to 63-42 at halftime. The Mavericks never recovered, as the Celtics continued to pile on the pressure in the second half.

The Celtics' victory gives them a 1-0 lead in the best-of-seven series. Game 2 will be played in Boston on Sunday night.
